In this fictional account of a young African savanna elephant, readers learn many facts about these family-oriented animals and how important they are to their ecosystem. Unfortunately, they are often victims of poachers, who seek the ivory in their tusks. Despite efforts to end the illegal ivory trade, these magnificent creatures are being killed at an alarming rate.
About the Author
Joan Diehl is a former editor of the Madison County Record, a weekly newspaper now called the Madison Record. Born in Topeka, Kansas, she is a graduate of Washburn University. She is the author of a memoir, Once Upon a War: The Diary of a Waiting Wife, as well as four children’s books. Joan passed away in 2020, and is survived by her husband Glenn.
