As a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Joan Diehl especially enjoys writing educational animal stories for children. She is also the author of Once Upon a War, a Vietnam memoir about military family life during our country’s most divisive conflict of the twentieth century.
A native of Topeka, Kansas, Joan is a graduate of Topeka High School and Washburn University. She is a former editor of the weekly newspaper in Madison, Alabama, where she lives with her husband, a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and Vietnam veteran.
