Kua's Day on the Mesa
Meet Kua, a young Ancient Pueblan boy who lived in Spruce Tree House in what is now known as Mesa Verde National Park, located in southwest Colorado. Kua and his baby sister, Buu; his big brother, Huna; and his mother and father called this amazing area home in 1250 ce, more than 700 years ago!
Follow Kua as he guards his family’s maize crop while his father and brother are out hunting, rescues a baby hawk, and battles a dangerous rattlesnake—all during one, amazing day!
About the Author
Sheryl Jones was born and raised in the Flint Hills of eastern Kansas. She wrote her first story at the age of eight and has never stopped. She taught writing for twenty-three years and has written numerous children’s books and short stories for young readers, including four children’s books for Sea Turtle Incorporated, a sea turtle rescue organization
